<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video projector having high outside world visibility. SOLUTION: The light emitted from a spot light source 1 is diffracted by a hologram optical element 4. The light diffracted by this hologram optical element 4 is made onto convergent light which illuminates a transmission type color video display element 5 having microtranslucent portions 10. This convergent light is subjected to space modulation by this transmission type color video display element 5 to form a focus 8 at the pupil 7 and to form a geometrical image on the retina 9. On the other hand, an observer is able to observe the outside field through the microtranslucent portions 10 formed at the transmission type color video display element 5. As a result, the video projector having the high outside world visibility may be obtained.</p> |
