PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the required seek time by performing the calculation required for the seek control, setting other parameter after starting the movement in the moving direction, and changing over to the normal seek control by the interrupting process at the time after the setting is completed. SOLUTION: The servo information recorded on the disk 12 from a head 11 is demodulated by a read AMP: 13, and the current is calculated by a following controller 14. Next, this is given to a VCM: 20 through a VCMAMP: 19, then the head 11 is followed up to a target track. At the next processing time for setting the parameter calculation for the seek, the current is held as it is. The procedure is shifted to the seek control process by the subsequent interruption, and the current is calculated by a seek controller 16 from the deviation between the track 21 detected by a track detecting circuit 18 and the objective track 22 and from the actual speed 24 detected by a speed detector 17, then by giving it to the VCM: 20 through the VCMAMP: 19, the head 11 is moved to the target track.
