PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To regulate the change of the background color of a segment display at the time of a low temperature and to eliminate erroneous confirmation of the display by providing a dummy electrode opposed to the background part of the periphery of a segment display part in a display area and applying a voltage also to the dummy electrode. SOLUTION: A 1st display part constituted of a segment display part 3 and a background part 4 and a 2nd display part constituted of a dot matrix display part 5 coexist in a display area 2. A non-display area 1 is an area concealed by the outer frame of a liquid crystal display device and the display area 2 is an area for performing display. Then, a dummy electrode is installed at the background part 4 being the periphery of the display part 3 so that a specified voltage is applied to the dummy electrode. It is preferable to apply an off-voltage as the voltage applied to the dummy electrode. By applying the off-voltage to the dummy electrode being the background part, a part where an icon or a squarish light character is not displayed becomes the same voltage, and retardation becomes nearly the same and then, a color difference between the display part 3 where the display is not performed and the background part 4 is eliminated. |
