PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain inexpensively a liquid crystal display device without an image persistance and a shot noise. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device performing display at every frame, means (13, 20, 21) performing N frame inversion drive in a partial period when the liquid crystal display device isn't used are provided. When the device isn't used, a signal of a level at which an output signal from an EXOR gate 14 is selected is applied to a terminal 20 inputted with a drive switch signal, and the signal from the EXOR gate 14 is supplied to a video signal code changeover switch 18 by a drive changeover switch 21, and a forward or backward video signal is selected answering to the forward/backward of the signal to be supplied to a liquid crystal panel 19, and the code of the video signal is inverted at every one field, and the N frame inversion drive that the code of the video signal applied to odd, even field is inverted at every prescribed time is performed.
