PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical cable which allows packaging of many optical fibers and is good in the characteristic to take out the optical fibers after laying. SOLUTION: The optical cable 10, which is formed by assembling inner layer optical fibers 6i in an S-Z twist state on the circumference of a central member 2, assembling outer layer optical fibers 6o in the S-Z state on the circumference of these inner layer optical fibers 6i and covering the circumferences thereof with a sheath 10, has inner layer inversion marks Mi, which are disposed on the sheath 10 and indicate the positions corresponding to the inner layer inversion parts Ri of the inner layer S-Z loci formed by the inner layer optical fibers 6i, and the outer layer inversion part display marks Mo, which are disposed on the sheath 10, indicate the positions corresponding to the outer layer inversion parts Ro of the outer layer S-Z loci formed by the outer layer optical fibers 6o and are identifiable from the inner layer inversion marks Mi with each other.
