PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a color difference signal without a inter-line level error by properly selecting any of comparators used for A/D conversion depending on an employed signal processing system to enhance resolution in horizontal and vertical directions and a video processing speed or the like and compensating an offset error through the use of addition and subtraction employed for this device. SOLUTION: A comparator control pulse generating circuit 7 selects a comparator A 5 or a comparator B 6 of an A/D converter 4 that A/D-converts an output of a CCD 2 adopting noninterlace scanning according to a prescribed procedure. A sum circuit 9 sums a direct output signal from the A/D converter 4 and a signal resulting from the output signal of the A/D converter 4 through a 1H delay device 8 to result in obtaining a sum signal of upper and lower pixels, and a subtractor 11 calculates a difference between the direct output signal from the adder 9 and the output signal from the adder 9 after passing through a 1-pixel delay device 10 and then a signal CR (color signal 2R-G) is obtained. An adder 13 sums the output of the A/D converter 4 and a signal resulting from an output signal of the 1H delay device 8 after passing through a 1-pixel delay device 12, a subtractor 15 calculates a difference between an output of the adder 13 and the output of the adder 13 after passing through a 1-pixel delay device 14 to obtain a signal CB (color signal 2B-G).
