PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device provided with a cleaning device being free from lowering of a cleaning capacity although the brush outside diameter is reduced by a long time use. SOLUTION: This cleaning device is constituted while being provided with a conductive rotary brush 19, and a voltage applying means for applying bias voltage to the rotary brush 19 and also provided with a shifting means consisting of a cam 18 for positioning a rotary brush 19 and a motor 25, an ammeter 26 capable of detecting the rotary brush 19 coming into contact with the image carrier 9, and a controlling part 29 for driving/controlling the shifting means. The cleaning device is allowed, to make the rotary brush 19 temporarily parted from the image carrier, and gradually brought close in the image carrier direction by the rotation of the cam 18. After the contact position (brush outside diameter) is detected by the ammeter 26, the cam 19 is rotated by a specified angle, and thus a specific contact amount is secured.
