摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the aligning property by using an alignment layer material having a small pretilt angle which can be cured at a low temp. SOLUTION: This compsn. contains (A) 1,5-diaminopentane, 1,7-diaminoheptane and/or 1,9-diaminononane and (B) polyamide acid obtd. by the reaction of tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride. In the producing method, the compsn. above described is applied on the surface of a substrate which is to hold a liquid crystal where an electrode is formed. The applied compsn. is dried, dehydrated for ring-closing reaction to form a polyimide resin layer, and rubbed. The liquid crystal alignment layer is produced from the compsn. above described. The substrate which holds a liquid crystal has the liquid crystal alignment layer above described, and the liquid crystal display element is produced by forming an electrode on the surface of the substrate to be faced the liquid crystal, and forming the liquid crystal alignment layer obtd. from the compsn. above described on the substrate and electrode.
