PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color reproducible range generating method and a color reproducible range generating device by which a boundary of a color reproducible range in a three-dimensional color space is obtained in a simply manner with high precision and to provide an image forming device incorporating the color reproducible range generating device. SOLUTION: This color reproducible range generating device receives an image including a plurality of colors where a black (K) component in a YMCK (yellow, magenta, cyan, black) color space depending on an image output section is nullified and colors expressed by the other color components are boundary colors for a color reproduction range and colors resulting from adding the K component to the colors as a color patch. A color patch read section 21 acquires the colors of the color patch, an input color conversion section 22 converts the colors into colors in a uniform color space and a buffer 23 stores the converted colors. A block processing section 24 generates a border of the color reproducible range in the uniform color space from the colors, applies block processing to the colors of the boundary plane and a color reproducible range storage memory 15 stores the result. This processing is repeated till desired precision is obtained while reducing the block size.
