METHOD FOR DISTINGUISHING HAIR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a method for distinguishing in which state of a hair cycle a hair stands by using manifestation of an FGF-5S(fibroblast growth factor 5S) in a hair follicle peripheral system as an index. SOLUTION: First, an FGF-5S is prepared to form an FGF-5. Then, an FGF-5 specific monochlonal antibody is obtained, and an anti FGF-5 FGF-5S monochlonal antibody is obtained. The skin of a rat back part is collected and a slice of the skin is processed and stained with using both antibodies. A position where the FGF-5 specific antibody or anti FGF-5S FGF-5 antibody bonds is detected in this manner. The stain result show that the FGF-5 is present in macrophage cells of the skin and the FGF-5S is present in a hair follicle cortex. It is also shown that in accordance with a shift of a hair growth phase, a stain intensity of the hair follicle cortex changes and therefore a change in manifestation amount of the FGF-58 relates to the growth of hair.
