PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an iron powder detection device that can accurately detect a fine iron powder that is contained in a copper wire and causes a rupture in a thinning process for extending the copper wire. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a magnetic shield container 4 that forms an inspection region where an outside magnetic field is shielded, and a magnetic sensor 5 that has a SQUID being arranged in the magnetic shield container 4 and detects magnetic force being generated by an iron powder in a continuous long copper wire that passes through the magnetic shield container 4 and is continuously led. As parts for forming a carrier path 7 that allows the copper wire to pass through the magnetic shield container 4 for leading into the inspection region, an insulation ring 8 such as a rubber bush for preventing the copper wire being led to the carrier path 7 from being brought into contact with the magnetic shield container 4 is provided.
