PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impact testing device capable of removing a load increase caused by compression of air in the buckling deformation, and capable of easy measurement of essential load characteristics of the honeycomb block test piece, by securing permeability between the inside of a honeycomb block test piece and the open air. SOLUTION: In this impact testing device, a honeycomb block test piece 11 is loaded on an installation stand 10 having a smooth surface with cell opening parts 11a upward and downward, and an impact absorbing characteristic is measured by dropping a weight object W having a smooth bottom face from the upper side of the honeycomb block test piece 11. In this case, a lattice- shaped air release groove 12, for releasing the compressed air inside the honeycomb block test piece 11 to the outside when the honeycomb block test piece 11 is compressed, is formed on a smooth plane 10a of the installation stand 10. Also, preferably, a smooth face plate 13 on which plural through holes 13a are formed is interposed, so as to prevent the end face of the honeycomb block test piece 11 from falling into the air release groove 12 when compressed, and the smooth face plate 13 has rigidity, and a through hole 13a having an area of not more than 40% of a cell area per cell 14 is formed thereon.
