摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liq. crystal display device with a lateral electric field system having excellent image quality with coloring by variation of visual angle direction reduced and preventing reduction of aperture rate and generation of a defect to the minimum. SOLUTION: A liq. crystal display device with lateral electric field system is provided with pixel electrode 71, which is constituted of a parallel electrode and an orthogonal electrode to an initial alignment direction of a liq. crystal for every one pixel, with an aligned direction of liq. crystal molecules being uniform and a common electrode 72. In the case of using this liq. crystal display device, a gradient direction of an electric field are alternately different in every zone of the liq. crystal layer divided by the parallel electrode and the orthogonal electrode of the pixel electrode 71 and the common electrode 72, and accordingly rotating directions of the liq. crystal molecules 21 are alternately different in every zone. Thus, coloring of display accompanying variation of visual angle can be suppressed by making the rotating direction of the liq. crystal 21 different in the liq. crystal layer.
