PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize an electromagnetic relay by miniaturizing an exciting coil. SOLUTION: In this electromagnetic relay 10, a coil 13 is wound, and a permanent magnet 14 constituted so that a normally closed contact side (break side) cross section is larger than a normally open contact side (make side) cross section is placed between first and second magnetic poles of a core 11 is arranged. An armature 17, that has a fulcrum portion in its center and performs a seesaw operation, is arranged facing the permanent magnet 14. A movable contact spring 15 having movable contacts 16a, 16b on its both sides is integrally held by an armature block 18 under the armature 17. By enlarging the normally closed contact side cross section of the permanent magnet 14 suction force adequate for a current-holding-type electromagnetic relay is provided on the break side to miniaturize the electromagnetic relay and to stabilize the characteristics.
