PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce deterioration in picture quality due to an after image when the same picture is displayed for a long time. SOLUTION: This display device is provided with a liquid crystal panel 13 driven by respectively supplying a video signal and horizontal/vertical synchronizing signals outputted from an external controller 10 to a source driver and a gate driver, a pattern signal generation part 12 generating a dummy pattern signal by which plural pixels are black displayed synchronized with the horizontal/vertical synchronizing signals and a signal synthetic part 11 supplying the video signal to the source driver as the data signal and the horizontal/ vertical signals to the gate driver when the dummy pattern signal isn't inputted, and supplying a composite signal replacing the partial video signal with the dummy pattern signal to the source driver as the data signal when the dummy pattern signal is inputted.
