PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket capable of being further reduced in height. SOLUTION: This socket 1 is used to connect multiple terminals 81 of an electronic component 8 to a printed board 9, and it is provided with a cover 3, an insulator 4, a first contact 5 and a second contact 6. The insulator 4 can be reciprocated between a first position and a second position moved to the right side from the first position. A contact section 62 is located between each terminal 81 and a contact section 52, it is practically kept in no contact with the terminal when the insulator 4 is located at the first position, and it is kept in pressure contact with the terminal 81 when the insulator 4 is located at the second position. A contact section 63 is located between the terminal 81 and the contact section 52, it is faced to the contact section 52 when the insulator 4 is located at the first position, and it is kept in pressure contact with the contact section 52 when the insulator 4 is located at the second position.
