PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for accepting a remote control code are provided, which accepts a code for remotely controlling an external device. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for accepting a remote control code comprises: a light-interception unit (110) for receiving an infrared ray transmitted from a remote controller 2 (210) of a satellite broadcasting receiver (200) and converting the infrared ray into an electric signal to output; a data and carrier dividing unit (120) for amplifying the output signal of the light-interception unit (110) and dividing a code data and a carrier from the amplified signal; a microcomputer (130) for storing the code data and the carrier inputted from the data and carrier dividing unit (120); and an illuminant unit (140) for transmitting the infrared ray according to the control of the microcomputer (130). Thereby, it is possible to improve the use efficiency of a memory.
