<p>A tape cassette is which a tape body is wound around a couple of tape reels rotatably supported to a cassette body. The cassette body has a first write inhibition mechanism provided at a place corresponding to the place where a write inhibition mechanism is provided in another tape cassette compatibly loaded in a recording/reproducing apparatus in which the tape cassette of the invention is loaded and a second write inhibition mechanism at a place not corresponding to the place where a write inhibition mechanism is provided in the other tape cassette, thereby making the first write inhibition mechanism always in a write-inhibition state. Even if a tape cassette on which an information signal is recorded in a recording format is loaded in a recording/reproducing apparatus for tape cassettes of a specific recording format which is one of different recording formats and is different from the recording format of the loaded tape cassette, the recording of information signals in the tape cassette is inhibited to protect the data already recorded.</p> |
