Solvent mixt. comprises 90-96.5% n-C3H7Br (I); up to 6.5% of a terpene mixt. (II); and 3.5-5% of a low b.pt. solvent mixt. (III). Mixt. (II) comprises (a) 35-50% cis-pinane, and (b) 35-50% trans-pinane. Mixt. (III) comprises (a) 0.5-1% CH3NO2, (b) 0.5-1% 1,2-butylene oxide, and (c) 2.5-3% 1,3-dioxolane. The mixt. (II) pref. also comprises a terpene from endo-isocamphene, alpha-pinene, and cis- or trans-para-menthane, is pref. non-flammable, has high solvency with a Kauri-Butanol value above 120, esp. at least 125, leaves a non-volatile residue less than 2.5 mg, esp. no residue in a vapour degreasing system, has evaporation rate at least 0.96 (1,1,1-trichloroethane = 1), has latent heat of evaporation ca. 58.8 cal/g, and has O3-Depletion Potential 0.001-0.04, and Halogen Global Warming Potential 0.0001-0.0003 or almost zero. |
