The device has a connecting mechanism fitted between the boot lid and body of the vehicle so that a front side and a rear side of the boot lid can be opened. A first section of the connecting mechanism is connected to the boot lid, and a rear section is pivot-connected to it. A front section of the connecting mechanism is pivot-connected to the boot lid and detachable. A second section of the connecting mechanism is connected to the body and a rear section is pivot-connected to the body. A front section is pivot-connected to the body and movable. A hinge mechanism is fitted between the rear side of the boot lid and body of the vehicle so that the rear side of the boot lid is pivot-connected to the body and detachable.
