<p>A network according to the invention comprises a central control station arranged to communicate with a plurality of intermediate stations, either directly or via relay stations. The intermediate stations are arranged to cover predetermined geographical areas on a non-overlapping basis, and communicate with remote stations. In order to utilise the frequency channels of the stations efficiently, the invention provides for a multiplexing scheme which allocates a predetermined number of time slots for use by remote stations and intermediate stations when communicating with one another.</p> |
