The indirect cooling process involves the use of water (29) to cool the stator part (20) adjacent to the radial gap (24) between the stator and the rotor. There is either a recess (26) in the interior of the stator part adjacent to the radial gap, or a cavity in the stator part. The recess or cavity has an input line (27) and also an output line for the water.
