<p>There is described a process for the manufacture or treatment of paper or a paper product. The method comprises applying to the paper product, either during manufacture or subsequently, a solution or dispersion of a rubber in an organic solvent or mixture of solvents, the solution or dispersion being at least substantially free of polymers containing perfluorinated alkyl groups. Synthetic rubbers such as neoprene are preferred. Papers prepared in accordance with the process are particularly suitable for use as security papers and banknotes.</p> |
