STRIP FITTING TOOLS AND METHODS

A portable tool for fitting a channel-shaped sealing, trimming or guiding strip onto a mounting flange comprises a gear box (32) having an input shaft rotated by a suitable motor and which drives two rollers (38, 40) in contra-rotating directions about respective axes (42, 44). When the motor is energised to contra-rotate the rollers (38, 40), the tool is driven along the strip and the rollers (38, 40) force the sides of the channel of the strip into tight frictional contact with the flange. The axis (42) of one of the rollers (38) is fixed in relation to the tool body. The other roller (40) is mounted on a sub-frame (84) so that its axis (44) can pivot about a pivot axis (A) which intersects with the rotation axis (44) of that roller (40). The tool also includes a third roller (52) for engaging the outside of the inverted base of the channel.
