A filtration device (10) and indicating apparatus (44) and method for a filtration device (10) according to which a filtering element (24) is connected between an inlet passage (18) and an outlet passage (20) of a filtration device (10) connected in a fluid flow system. The respective pressures of the fluid in the inlet and outlet passages (18 and 20) are measured and the differential pressure across the filtering element is calculated, to determine if the filtering element (24) is blocked or partially blocked and should therefore be changed.
