The armchair has a housing incorporating a seat (2) connected to frame (1), with back-rest (3) and, if necessary, foot-rest (4). Stand (5) is connected to the frame. Two cross-bars (7, 8) are pivot mounted between the frame side parts, in the front and back parts beneath the seat respectively. The cross-bars have adjusting levers connected to a drive motor and to which operating levers are fixed. The adjustment also comprises two servo motors inside one housing which activate the adjusting levers (9,10) of the cross-bars.
