Decorative plastic product comprises an expanded plastic surface layer (1), various zones of which are covered by a inhibiting coating (3) preventing cells (4) from breaking open during expansion. In the remaining areas with no inhibiting coating the cells are open (5) at the surface and give a different appearance when compared with the adjacent coated zones. An Independent claim is made for production of the plastic product with areas of different appearance.
