1,107,710. Labelling machines. CHESHIRE Inc. 4 Feb., 1965 [4 Feb., 1964], No. 4921/65. Heading B8F. [Also in Division B6] Labels are gummed and applied to articles moving along a table by an impression roller. The label information is printed in columns and rows on a sheet from which a transverse strip is cut by a power-operated guillotine. An idler roller is mounted on the movable blade of the guillotine and co-operates with a strip feed roller to feed the label strip parallel to its longitudinal axis between a knife and an anvil roller which detaches individual labels and feeds them to an impression roller having vacuum openings and on which it is gummed and by which it is applied to the article. The article feed has means to stop the label feed if an article is missing. A brake in the form of a suction head holds the label strip during the severing operation. The information may be placed on the sheet as a reverse image which is transferred to the article by heat and pressure or by a spirit duplication process. The label is stripped from the article after the image has been transferred by a suction pad.
|
