Monitoring traffic flows using camera by buffering signals in short time segments before transmitting to remote computer for supply to network

Events are monitored using a digital video camera and images from the camera are fed to a computer unit for evaluation. The camera is arranged in a transmitter station, which directs information to a separate receiver station with a computer unit. The signals are buffered in short time segments of 5 to 20 seconds before being sent, e.g. via radio, to the computer unit. The computer unit supplies the information to a network such as the Internet or an intranet. The signals are buffered in the transmitter station, and may be compressed and/or encrypted prior to being sent to the computer unit. A solar-powered transmitter station with a video camera is also claimed.
