PURPOSE: A running path guiding method is provided, which considers the characteristic of a road in a car navigation apparatus. CONSTITUTION: A running path guiding method comprises the steps of: (200, 202) setting an optimum running path according to the setting request of the optimum running path from a driver using a map data having the characteristic of a road; and (204-220) outputting a guide message of the running path corresponding to the characteristic of the road when a road which the characteristic of the road is displayed is indicated on the running path during moving according to the running path, wherein the map data has a P-turn information, an U-turn information, or a rotary information, and the guiding message of the running path is outputted as a voice through a speaker. Thereby, it is possible to easily understand the running path and previously come to the ready to the running path.
