The system includes a communi- cation channel (160) coupled to at least two terminals having the ability to send and receive information. Where one ter- minal is deemed to be the client A (110), and the other terminal is deemed the server B (130). Upon receiving a re- quest for information from the client A (110), the server B (110) transfers the requested information. In addition to the requested information, the server B (130) adds certain additional informa- tion either in the form of the coupon C (that can be enciphered), or in the form of a pointer to a coupon database that al- lows the client A (110) to be recognized by other servers B' not nece ssarily re- lated to the server B (130), issuing the original information C. Any server(s) B' that subsequently recognizes client A (110) as the client A makes requests for information to the new server(s) B' would only have the ability to recognize portions of the information C related to it.
