A blow nozzle 1 comprises a tubular body 4 with a needle 5 at its end, the tip 9 of the needle being located on the central axis of the tubular body. The needle 5 is formed with an umbrella-like shape, and has a plurality of nozzles 20 for blowing air into a parison in a blow moulding apparatus. The umbrella-like shape is provided by a number of elongate cutting areas 10 formed in an outer peripheral surface of the needle portion 5, which areas 10 have sloped edges 11 extending from the needle tip 9 at an acute angle. The shape of this needle reduces the resistance against insertion into the parison, and allows a large diameter blow nozzle to be used. Air can be supplied through an air cooling apparatus (figures 8 and 9) to rapidly cool the parison, whereby the moulding cycle time can be reduced. This is helped by circulating the cooled air through a circulating jig (200, figure 8), prior to injecting the needle 7 into the parison. Also disclosed and claimed is a driving mechanism for the nozzle, and blow moulded products having mouths (figures 10 and 11). |
