PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clamp evading device simple in structure and small in size by engaging an arc groove of an evading plate which is provided at the position facing an overriding area on a carriage of a turret punch press with an engaging piece which is provided in a jaw movably attached to a clamping device thereby sliding them. SOLUTION: A work W is clamped with a clamping device 13 which is attached via a carriage base 11 and a carriage 12, and is subjected to punching with a punch and a die which are attached to a turret. An evading plate 41 in which an arc groove 41A is formed is provided at the position facing an overriding area on a carriage base 11 of a turret punch press, an engaging piece 42 is provided in a jaw J which is attached to the clamping device 13 freely movably, the engaging piece 42 is engaged with the arc groove 41A and if slid along it, and whereby the turret is evaded. Therefore, an actuator such as a retracting cylinder is unnecessitated thereby miniaturizing the device.
