摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a precision grinding machine and a grinding wheel radius measuring method which are capable of extremely precisely grinding the outer peripheral surface of a workpiece. SOLUTION: First, a touch probe 52 attached to a wheel spindle stock 4 is allowed to abut on a reference block 7 fixed to a headstock 24 to precisely determine the positional relationship between the axis of rotation of a grinding wheel 42 and the axis of rotation of a spindle. Then, the grinding wheel 42 being rotated is brought into contact with a transfer bar 6 to slightly grind the transfer bar 6, and the outside diameter of the grinding wheel is transferred to the transfer bar 6. The position of the tip of the ground transfer bar 6 is measured by the touch probe 52, and the radius of the grinding wheel 42 being rotated is precisely measured. Since the positional relationship between the axis of rotation of the grinding wheel 42 and the axis of rotation of the spindle, and the radius of the grinding wheel, are precisely determined, the position of the radius of the grinding wheel relative to a workpiece held by the spindle can be calculated based on these measured values, and the outer peripheral surface of the workpiece van be extremely precisely ground.
