PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a coating process, to save resources and to reduce environmental pollution by simply heating a coating film formed by cationic electrodeposition to allow the coating film to flow during the time from the end of coating with a coating material for cationic electrodeposition to the beginning of coating with a coating material for second coating. SOLUTION: When a coating film is formed by carrying out coating by cationic electrodeposition and second coating by a two-coating one-baking system, a coating film formed by cationic electrodeposition is simply heated during the time from the end of coating with a coating material for cationic electrodeposition to the beginning of coating with a coating material for second coating. By this heating, the unhardened coating film before baking is made smooth and sharp. Water on the coating film is evaporated and a basic material and a low molecular material can be volatilized from the coating film. Such materials do not migrate in large quantities from the coating film to a coating film formed by second coating in the baking of the coating films, breeding and hindrance to hardening are not caused and the smoothness and sharpness of the resultant coating film are not deteriorated.
