PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pigment which is smooth and excellent in adhesion to skin and in color-spreading capability by coating the surface of a pigment with a hydrophobizing agent and a homogeneous melt mixture comprising a liq. satd. fatty acid ester and a purified ester gum consisting mainly of abietic acid triglyceride. SOLUTION: 33-66 wt.% purified ester gum consisting mainly of abietic acid triglyceride is homogeneously mixed with a liq. satd. fatty acid ester to give a homogeneous melt mixture. The surface of a pigment or a body pigment is coated with, based on the pigment or body pigment, 0.5-20 wt.%, pref, 2-10 wt.%, above-prepd. melt mixture and 0.5-20 wt.%, pref. 1-7 wt.%, hydrophobizing agent or 0.1-20 wt.%, pref. 2-10 wt.%, hydrolipophobizig agent. Thus is obtd. a cosmetic which is free from darkening of color due to sweat or sebum, does not cause makeup to come off, and does not irritate skin.
