PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device for a building shutter that allows a person to escape without suffering a serious injury even though being caught under the shutter when the shutter is lowered suddenly. SOLUTION: A shutter 2 is lowered to a position that allows a person to crawl thereunder and prevented from going down further with its weight sustained at both sides with side plates each having a induction plate embedded therein, and a space between a bottom plate 8 of the shutter and a floor surface 9 is shut with an unrestricted plate 6 that turns forward and rearward at an angle of 90 degrees hung down, extending all over the width of the shutter 2, and therefore a person, even though being caught under the shutter, can escape on his or her own effort.
