PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To alleviate noise during processing in a vertically driving apparatus in which the space between a pair of movable plates arranged vertically to face each other is made a processing section, and the movable plates in a processing apparatus are driven vertically and symmetrically in accordance with a processing action for a work. SOLUTION: A pair of cam mechanisms for driving an upper movable plate 1a to move vertically in a constant posture and a pair of cam mechanisms for driving a lower movable plate 1b vertically in a constant, parallel posture are provided. Each cam mechanism is composed of a cam follower 11 fitted to the end part of the movable plate 1a or 1b and a cam 12 supported by a fixing member to contact the follower 11, and a time difference is set up between the point of time when the upper movable plate 1a reaches a lower dead center and the point of time when the lower movable plate 1b reaches an upper dead center.
