PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a high efficiency in a wide operating range in a scroll compressor by stably bringing a fixed scroll in a low pressure sealed container into contact with a slewing scroll by an appropriate load, decreasing to a small amount leakage between compression chambers, preventing sliding loss and reducing excessive compression loss, and to facilitate the use of a refrigerant having high working pressure and a combustible refrigerant in a refrigerating machine system. SOLUTION: The inside of a sealed container 1 except for a compression mechanism part and a discharge piping system is retained to approximately inlet pressure, and a discharge chamber 20 having approximately the same radial area as a compression chamber is formed on a base plate on a side opposite to the surface having the lap of a fixed scroll 6. Discharge pressure is applied to the upper surface of the lower outer side of the fixed scroll 6 further outward from the discharge chamber 20, and inlet pressure is applied to the lower surface thereof. A discharge pipe which can elastically absorb the axial displacement of the fixed scroll 6 in the inside of the sealed container 1 is sealed and fixed in the discharge chamber 20.
