PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save power in the initializing control of a solenoid-driven valve supported resiliently by a spring in the neutral position wherein the initializing control signifies a displacement from the neutral position to the full closed or full open position. SOLUTION: The initializing control of a solenoid-driven valve is performed in such a way that the amplitude of the valve element is increased gradually by exciting the natural vibration of a spring mass system. In this initializing control using resonance phenomenon, an electromagnetic force is generated in the full close direction if a piston is in the up-stroke when the initial displacement is to be given while the position is in neutral (S4) and in the full open direction if the piston is in the down-stroke (S5) so that the dynamic pressure of the air acts in the same direction as the electromagnetic force.
