PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feed cassette capable of simplifying the constitution for detecting the paper size, and automatically detecting the size of stored paper sheets only by guiding the paper sheets to be stored with a paper sheet guide. SOLUTION: This paper feed cassette 10 is fitted to an image forming device 1, and stacks and stores paper sheets of a plurality of paper sizes 30, 30a, 30b, 30c in a switching manner. The paper feed cassette is provided with a paper sheet guide 9 slidably provided on a cassette body to guide the paper sheets, and a signal generating means 16 which is provided with an expandable string member 15 to connect the paper sheet guide 9 to the cassette body side, measures the tension in the string member 15, and generates the signal to automatically detect the paper size.
