PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a display of a wrong gear indication number by detecting whether a command is issued to move a chain from a small gear to a large gear and applying different interrelations between numbers displayed in electrical indicators representing a shift to a small gear and a shift to a large gear. SOLUTION: Sensor means 17 that detects the position of a control lever 13 is installed to a control system 13 of a front derailleur. A signal output from the sensor device 17 is transmitted to an electrical control device 18. The electrical control device 18 controls a display of a gear number that is selected in accordance with an operating position of the control system 13 detected by the sensor device 17. The electrical control device 18 is provided to detect the direction in which a chain is moved by comparing the detected current position with the previous position, and to apply interrelation between the position detected by the control system 13 and the gear number displayed on an indicator 19. This allows the indicator to reliably and automatically display the gear selected to be in mesh with the chain.
