PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve surface smoothness and dust generation suppressability requested for transportation in a glass production stage by impregnating the blanks molded from inorganic materials as main materials with an inorganic colloid solution and drying these blanks to a specific moisture content and fitting, inserting, compressing and fixing these blanks to metallic shafts, then subjecting the blanks to grinding. SOLUTION: The blank is molded by a sheet making method from the slurry raw material prepd. from inorganic fibers, inorganic fillers, inorganic binders, or the like, as the main material. The blank is dried to <=5 wt.% moisture content. The inorganic fibers are preferaly man-made inorganic fibers, such as ceramic fibers and natural mineral fibers, such as wollastonite and sepiolite, and the inorganic fillers are preferably mica, talc, alumina, or the like. A silica sol, alumina sol, zirconia sol, or the like, are used for the inorganic colloid solution. The amount (solid content) of the inorganic colloid solution to be impregnated is adequately 15 to 25 wt.%. The density of the disk roll is required to be >=1.5 g/cm3 by totalling the blank and the solid content of the inorganic colloid solution.
