PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aramid film excellent in durability and electromagnetic transducer characteristic when used as a base film for magnetic recording media. SOLUTION: This aramid film with an average thickness of 2 to 10μm has a waviness on at least one side or the surface at random, wherein the waviness has a height (H) of 0.03 to 0.4μm and main pitch (L) of 1,000 to 2,000μm with 500<=L/H<=15,000, and wherein the dynamic elastic modulus is 10 to 25 Pa and the ratio of tanδat 100 deg.C to tanδat 25 deg.C is 0.3 to 2.0. Such a special surface shape and dynamic elastic module may provide a base film for magnetic recording mediums good in both durability and electromagnetic transducer characteristic.
