PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a tube of superior surface volume ratio composed of at least one kind of metals in subgroups 4 and 5 in the periodic table of elements, having the small inner diameter and provided with sufficient coating at least on the inner face of the tube with palladium, palladium alloy, platinum or platinum alloy. SOLUTION: In a manufacturing method for a hydrogen permeable membrane, one face or both faces of a plate-shaped fireproof metal or a fireproof metal alloy containing at least one kind of metals in subgroups 4 and 5 of the periodic table of elements are coated with the coating containing at least palladium, at least one kind of palladium alloy, platinum or at least one kind of platinum alloy to manufacture a coated member, and the coated member thus formed is deformed into a tubular hydrogen permeable membrane.
