PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject fixing agent capable of suppressing the reduction in touch feeling and stably retaining the shape imparted to wool (product) even when exposed to warm water or steam without causing the deterioration such as discoloration or malodor by including one or more kinds of N- carbamoylcysteine (salt). SOLUTION: This shape fixing agent contains one or more kinds of N- carbamoylcysteine represented by the formula or its salts. When using the shape fixing agent, the pickup in wool (product) is preferably 0.1-2.0% based on the weight of the fabric or fiber (owf), preferably 0.1-1.2% owf.
