PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject inexpensive coolant having high safety and capable of manifesting high cutting properties by uniformly dispersing a fine powder of a polyamide resin in water as a principal component. SOLUTION: This coolant for cutting is obtained by uniformly dispersing a fine powder of a polyamide resin (preferably nylon 12) in water (tap water) as a principal component. The coolant preferably contains a surfactant (e.g. a nonionic surfactant) in order to uniformly disperse the polyamide resin in the water. The fine powder of the polyamide resin preferably has a size of, e.g. <=100 mesh particles. For example, the coolant for the cutting is prepared by adding 0.5 wt.% of a polyoxyethylene alkyl ether which is a nonionic surfactant and 10 wt.% of the fine powder of nylon 12 to the tap water, further adding 0.001 wt.% of a polymethylsiloxane as a defoaming agent thereto and uniformly dispersing the components in the water. |
