PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print images of various modes with a high resolution and a high gradation at high speed by a compact apparatus, by setting a printing head having a plurality of nozzle arrays obtained by dividing nozzle groups consisting of N arrays with nozzles in the array arranged by an arrangement pitch of P to (m) sets and shifting nozzle arrays of each set by every P/m in a sub scan direction. SOLUTION: Nozzle groups in N arrays arranged with an arrangement pitch of P in the array are divided to (k) sets (k=a natural number of N/m) by every (m) arrays (a natural number 2<=m<N). Moreover, nozzle arrays in each set are shifted in a sub scan direction by every P/m. Each nozzle array is thus formed. A plurality of the nozzle arrays are set, thereby constituting a printing head 43. Sub tanks 48 (48-1 to 48-8) for temporarily holding ink supplied from the outside are set corresponding to the nozzle arrays of the printing head 43, thus constituting a head unit part 41. Ink is supplied and can be supplemented to each sub tank 48 from a main tank 42 comprising a plurality of main tanks 46a-46e set to an apparatus main body. |
