PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply execute a shield driving method at a low cost without requirement for a segment of high proof stress. SOLUTION: In this shield driving method, a shield machine 10 is driven in a ground E, a segment cylinder 20 arranged in the inside of the shield machine 10 is left behind of the shield machine 10, and a tunnel whose inner face is covered with the segment cylinder 20 is constructed. There are included each step (a) for arranging the segment cylinder 20 in the inside of the shield machine 10 and disposing a reaction force transmission lever 30 along the axial direction in the inside of the segment cylinder 20, and (b) for adding press driving force toward rearward from the shield machine 10 to the reaction force transmission lever 30, and leaving behind the reaction force transmission lever 30 and the segment cylinder 20 by reaction force from the reaction force transmission lever 30 to drive the shield machine 10.
