PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily install a tent at an optional place by fitting an expandable/ shrinkable tent unit to the roof section of a frame body constituted of multiple supports, horizontal members and beams, and providing a sun shade or a rain shelter independently of a building. SOLUTION: A tent unit B is fitted to the roof 3 of a frame body A formed into a gate shape to form an awning device, the frame body A is erected independently of a building, and the support strength is secured so that the awning device is not tumbled by wind force even when a tent is stretched. The tent unit B is opened or closed (including winding and unwinding) via a manual handle operation or an automatic operation by a reversible motor, and the tent can be opened or closed only on one side of the frame body A. The awning device is erected at a position apart from the building, e.g. a balcony, a terrace, a garden, to provide a sun shade or a rain shelter. A living place can be expanded to an optional place.
